For your old mattress, trade it in!

Every year, around 5 million mattresses are sold in France. Their average lifespan is 10 years. Disposing of your old mattress is a good idea, but not just any old way! By taking it to a suitable collection point for recycling, you're helping to reduce its environmental impact. Ecomaison offers you several easy and free solutions for taking back your old mattress.

What to do with your old mattress

Have your children grown out of their beds? You're moving house and your old bed doesn't fit? Is your mattress too soft, worn out or too small? So today, it's decided: you're changing mattresses! But what to do with the old one?

There are several solutions:

  • Bring it back to your store: your retailer offers you the chance to take back your old mattress and other bedding items (slat base, comforter, pillow...) free of charge , subject to certain conditions.
  • Ask for your mattress to be returned when it is delivered. The conditions will be indicated to you at the time of purchase.
  • If it's in good condition, donate it to an association for re-use.
  • Place it in the dedicated skip at the public waste collection centre.

By bringing your mattress back to the store, you're giving it a second life. Ecomaison then arranges for it to be taken to a sorting center, where its constituent materials - metal, foam, latex, wool, textile... - are separated and sorted. Each material is then recycled. Thanks to Ecomaison and the continuous progress made in the recycling chain over the last 10 years, more than 9 out of 10 mattresses are now fully recycled.

It's always easier with a mattress bag!

In all cases, with the exception of drop-off at a waste collection center, a mattress bag will be provided free of charge by your sellers, to prevent damage during transport and to ensure the health and safety of those handling the mattress. The bag is recycled at the same time as the mattress. It's a free, practical and ecological solution!
