"Let Your Heart Speak" is back to help the less fortunate and give a second life to toys
In Paris, November 10, 2023: To mark European Week for Waste Reduction, the "Laisse Parler ton Coeur" operation is back alongside 60 partner communities. Organized from November 13 to December 09, 2023 by the ecosystem and Ecomaison eco-organizations, this major solidarity drive for unused toys will take place at nearly 660 collection points in 409 communities. On the eve of the festive season, donations will enable low-income families to give gifts to their children and extend the life of thousands of toys.
How to get involved
Electric, electronic, wooden, construction, board games, children's costumes, stuffed toys and dolls... All unused toys are welcome, as long as they are complete. The aim is to clear out the trunks and shelves of all the toys and games that are not being used, and which could give pleasure to other children.
Entrusted to 60 French charities, including 23 from the Emmaüs Group, the toys collected are then sorted, tested, completed, cleaned and reconditioned, to be offered to families in difficulty or resold at fair prices in the run-up to the festive season.
Santa's sacks are ready to fill up: all information on locations and practical details are available on the operation website: www.laisseparlertoncoeur.org.
A gesture of solidarity and anti-gaspi
Since 2010, the "Laisse Parler ton Coeur" (Let Your Heart Speak) operation has conquered many territories and been a resounding success with each successive edition: almost 16,000 hoods, the equivalent of 250 tonnes of toys, have been collected in total!
The aim of this operation is to encourage young and old alike to donate, reuse and recycle stored and unused toys. Objects that cannot be repaired or reconditioned will be depolluted and recycled in France: electrical and electronic toys will be entrusted to ecosystem, while other categories of toys will be handed over to Ecomaison, the approved eco-organization for the collection, reuse and recycling of household objects and materials, which is joining the operation this year.
This event is a concrete gesture that combines the environment and solidarity, by avoiding wasting the resources needed to manufacture new objects, while giving a helping hand to other families.
"For the 14th edition of this major appeal for toy reuse and solidarity, we're delighted to be able to rally even more partners to our side. Communities and associations will be fully mobilized to raise awareness among the French and reinforce reflexes around donation, reuse and repair, as well as recycling", comments Laura Chech, spokesperson for the operation at ecosystem.
"Participating in this operation with ecosystem was an obvious choice for Ecomaison, as it is the approved eco organization in charge of collecting, reusing and recycling all non-electrical toys. This collaboration, born of our complementary nature, has the same objectives: to simplify the sorting and collection process, to encourage donation and reuse, and to improve the recycling of non-reusable toys. We're delighted to be taking part in this new edition," adds Matthieu Goutti, Head of the Toys Sector at Ecomaison.
