Eco-mobilier has once again been approved by the French government for a period of 6 years (2018/2023) to
manage the collection, sorting, recycling and recovery of all used furniture, and to
promote reuse and re-employment.

Targets exceeded for 1st approval!

We've come a long way since Eco-mobilier was founded. At that time, more than 50% of
used furniture was still being landfilled. After 4 full years of operation, over 1 million
tonnes have been collected, and over 90% of this used furniture has been recycled or recovered.
The 80% target set by the public authorities has therefore been exceeded! "We have exceeded
our commitment to the public authorities, diverting more than 9 out of 10
tonnes of used furniture from landfill, giving it a new life and helping to concretely reduce the
environmental impact of these products", explains Dominique Mignon, Managing Director of Eco-mobilier.

Aim for ZERO landfill

Having contributed to reducing the environmental impact of furniture thanks to the efficiency of its
operational scheme, Eco-mobilier has set itself an ambitious and
responsible target for the coming years: ZERO landfill by 2023.

2018/2023: the major challenges ahead

Eco-mobilier has defined several priorities:

Deploy and optimize collection solutions: Within 2 years, separate collection points for
used furniture will be available throughout France. Eco-mobilier will also support
innovative projects aimed at improving the user experience and the services offered at drop-off centers.
Eco-mobilier also wants to increase the volumes collected from
professional non-household holders (hotels, residences, etc.) through new collection solutions and
partnerships with waste operators.

Maximize the recovery and recycling of wood from used furniture: Wood is one of the
most collected materials by Eco-mobilier. How can we maximize the recovery and recycling of
this wood from used furniture? What to do with all this recycled wood? For Eco-mobilier, encouraging
the use of recycled wood in the manufacture of particleboard in France is one of the key solutions
to be considered and encouraged.

Accelerating innovation and encouraging eco-design: Eco-mobilier will study and encourage the
development of sustainable products, both designed with recycled materials and corresponding
to consumer expectations. Eco-mobilier will also support furniture chains
in their eco-design initiatives, so that the end-of-life of furniture is taken into account from
onwards. After all, the best waste is the waste we don't produce!

Assumption of responsibility for the collection, sorting, recycling and recovery of used comforters and pillows
:
Eco-mobilier's scope of intervention has been extended to the collection, sorting, recycling and
recovery of used comforters and pillows, as decided by the so-called "energy transition law
for green growth" of August 2015. This includes: comforters, pillows,
bolsters, seat cushions, bedding, decorative cushions and sleeping bags. In order to give companies
time to set up the scale and prepare for its display, this
charge will be effective from October 2018.

Encouraging everyone to get involved

Donating or throwing away old furniture so that it can be reused, recycled or valorized is far from being
a trivial gesture. It's a powerful gesture, which helps to give new life to this furniture and to
reduce its environmental impact. To help everyone understand what
eco-participation is and what it's for, to give meaning to the act of donating or sorting, and to find out what
becomes of their furniture at the end of its life, Eco-mobilier will be stepping up information, communication and awareness-raising campaigns throughout France at
.
