Building, DIY and garden products, toys and games

After furniture and bedding, it's now the turn of DIY, gardening, building products and toys and games. A logical next step for Eco-mobilier, with its ten years' experience in furniture recycling, as the eco-organization embarks on these new channels targeted by the new AGEC standards. The French anti-waste law for a circular economy stipulates that from January 1, 2022, these sectors will have to comply with EPR: extended producer responsibility.

In other words, the manufacturers, distributors and industrialists concerned will now have to recycle their waste.

Eco-mobilier is positioning itself in these new markets, which are a natural extension of an already well-established and successful system. With more than a million tonnes of waste recycled and recovered each year, the ecoorganisation is France's leading recycling operator for wood (700,000 tonnes) and foam (340,000 tonnes), plastics, metal and inerts... materials that make up a large part of the products in these new sectors. "Thanks to the skills acquired over the last ten years and the volumes of recycled wood, foam and plastics transformed by Eco-mobilier and its partners, we can offer professionals in these sectors a genuine industry strategy," explains Dominique Mignon, President of Eco-mobilier.

These new channels will make it possible to massify collections and supply manufacturers with large volumes of recycled materials and fuels. A guarantee for all current and future members of sustainable outlets and control over eco-taxes. New members will benefit from optimized rates, thanks to the industrial solutions already put in place by Eco-mobilier.

"The aim is to turn a regulatory constraint into an opportunity for the companies concerned. By drawing on Eco-mobilier's expertise in developing outlets for materials, we'll be putting manufacturers and distributors in a position to decide on their own strategy. This is the ambition of our application for these new approvals," concludes Dominique Mignon, President of Eco-mobilier.

And as January 1st is tomorrow, the eco-organization is launching its online pre-registration campaign, to ensure that companies are ready on D-day. As many of them already have a contract with Eco-mobilier, or are involved in several of the new channels, they will be able to combine the management of several memberships under a single account.

In practical terms, to make sorting materials easier, Ecomobilier will provide skips and other containers on site, and guarantee access to a collection point within 20 minutes throughout France. This will be possible thanks to 230 sorting and recovery centers and a nationwide network of collection points: over 5,000 locations and partnerships with 500 associations dedicated to reuse. These networks are ready to integrate these new sectors to guarantee the recycling, reuse or recovery of these end-of-life products.

And since nothing can be thrown away, nothing can be lost, a donation platform will be open to distributors. According to AGEC, donations are a new habit to be integrated into the eco-responsible sector circuit. This digital platform will enable them to recycle their unsold goods with social economy partners.

As another simple solution, Eco-mobilier is offering to buy back waste collected at the point of sale from distributors subject to the obligation to take back waste from their customers, without any condition of purchase. Eco-mobilier will also be offering to bring all its sellers into line with French legislation from January 1.

Eco-mobilier is offering a global solution to new sector players, enabling them to meet all their obligations and ensure more responsible treatment of their end-of-life products.

For Eco-mobilier, recycling rhymes with innovation

The eco-organization invests nearly €10 million a year in innovation and research to find new outlets for recycled materials and to improve the eco-design of products and materials. It supplies recycled materials and pays bonuses to members who incorporate them into new products. Eco mobilier is also a player in the decarbonization of energy, supplying decarbonized fuels to industry at the end of the cycle. More broadly, Eco-mobilier encourages all innovative approaches aimed at turning used products into tomorrow's resources.

"Our ambition is to strengthen value creation chains in France. With this in mind, Eco-mobilier supports investment in the reincorporation of recycled materials, its participation in the effort to relocate industry in France, and the extension of the circular economy logic for materials," concludes Dominique Mignon, President of Eco-mobilier.
