Staying at home this summer? Are you planning to indulge in your favorite activities? Gardening, DIY, interior design... Follow our home sorting tips to free up space in your home.
DIY: optimize your workshop
DIY is one of France's favorite activities, especially in summer. Before starting any new projects, take the time to sort out your workshop or DIY space.
Start with your tools. Group them by category (cutting tools, measuring tools, fastening tools, etc.) and assess their condition, then put aside any that are broken, worn or no longer in use.
Once you've sorted through all this, take a step back and rethink the organization of your space. Install new shelves made from reclaimed wood (old kitchen furniture or crates can be good sources of materials), place hooks to hang the tools you use most often, attach storage bins...
And to give you a clear picture of the work ahead, a picture is a great ally. To make it, use a used frame and a wooden base covered with slate-like paint.
Declutter your garden
In your garden, too, a well-thought-out organization can help you get the most out of it.
Take a look around your exterior and identify all the objects and materials that are cluttering it up unnecessarily. A wheelbarrow, your pet's kennel, your children's outdoor toys... all these objects can find a new life if they're in good condition.
Changing your wood deck? The boards are recyclable.
Simply drop them off at an Ecomaison collection point: there's always one within 15 kilometers of your home.
Inside, space expands thanks to sorting
Every room in your home is home to objects whose lifespan can be extended if you stop using them.
If the back-to-school season has you in the mood for something new, think about donating, reusing and recycling. Your sofa and table, for example, can be taken back by your furniture store and donated to one of Ecomaison's 600 partner associations.
You can also decide to donate your furniture and objects directly to a recycling center or association, which will resell them at solidarity prices.
And if they're too worn to be reused, simply drop them off at an Ecomaison collection point for recycling.
