Collecte solidaire et pédagogique de jouets : je le donne, je le sauve !

For the third year running, theAcadémie de Versailles and Ecomaison are organizing an educational toy drive in nursery and elementary schools.New this year, theAcadémie de Créteil is joining the project!

The collection is organized from November 18, 2024 to January 20, 2025, in 240 nursery and elementary schools spread across the academic territories of Versailles and Créteil.

Much more than a collection, a real educational approach

This third edition is an opportunity for certain establishments to deepen a global approach to education in sustainable development and to allow children to understand in a fun way the importance of donating to preserve the environment and perform an act of solidarity.

Each year, the teaching team of the Versailles academy and Ecomaison work to improve the educational content and documentation made available to teachers and their students.

Schools thus have the opportunity to invest in the solidarity reuse and recycling of games and toys by developing an educational project on waste prevention and management, the fight against waste and solidarity. Many tools are made available: educational booklet, booklet of examples of practices from previous operations, communication kit, etc.
This action is an opportunity for students to develop many skills, from a very young age:

  • work on the citizenship course by arousing the interest of children through an object with which they enjoyed playing,
  • develop skills of commitment and solidarity,
  • start or deepen a global approach to sustainable development.

The first two editions mobilized around

80,000 students and nearly 20 local associations Some 20 tonnes of toys and games were collected,

of which more than half have been reused.

A project arousing genuine interest: first edition for the Créteil academy

The project's differentiating dimension compared with other types of collection motivated the Créteil academy to approach Ecomaison, and mobilized schools in certain areas committed to education for sustainable development. By mobilizing these local association partners, Ecomaison has enabled a dozen schools in the communes of Pontault-Combault, Champigny-sur-Marne, Vitry-sur-Seine and Noisy-le-Grand to join the operation.

When? From November 18, 2024 to January 20, 2025.
How can we help? Ecomaison provides schools in the Académie de Versailles and Créteil with collection bins where you can drop off your children's used or unused toys and games.Once the bins are full, they are collected by social economy organizations whose mission is to refurbish the object so that it can be enjoyed by another child. If it can't be re-used, the toy is recycled.

What toys and games are collected?

All toys (figurines, building sets, board games, outdoor games, plush toys, toy cars, dolls, etc.) can be deposited in the collection bins.

Pitfalls to avoid:
Battery-operated toys (remote-controlled cars, electronic robots, etc.), sports equipment and childcare articles are not collected. The recycling of these items is handled by other eco-organizations specialized in the management of such equipment. Textbooks and writing materials should also be excluded from Ecomaison containers.
For further information, see the toys collected by Ecomaison.
