"Mission Sauvetage de jouets": To save toys from the garbage can, Ecomaison plays the fun card alongside manufacturers and distributors.

Nearly 3 out of 10 French people still throw their used toys into their household waste or packaging bins*, consigning them to landfill or incineration. However, with the Jouets initiative - created and run by Ecomaison with the support of toy manufacturers and distributors - toy donation, reuse and recycling are now tangible solutions for giving toys a second lease of life. Ecomaison, a state-approved eco-organization for the second life of toys, is launching an awareness-raising campaign for young and old alike, entitled "Mission Sauvetage des jouets". The aim is to encourage people to sort the 100,000 tonnes of toys and games thrown away in France every year**.

8 exceptional events are being organized throughout France from Saturday, April 05 to Wednesday, April 30, 2025 in partnership with toy manufacturers and distributors:

  • Saturday, April 05, 2025, Parking du JouéClub, Villeneuve-d'Ascq (59)
  • Wednesday April 09, 2025, Terrasses du Port shopping center, Marseille (13)
  • Saturday, April 12, 2025, Parly 2 Westfield Shopping Center (78)
  • Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Westfield Carré Sénart Shopping Center (77)
  • Saturday, April 19, 2025, Centre Commercial Westfield de la Part-Dieu (69)
  • Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Parking du King Jouet d'Echirolles (38)
  • Saturday, April 26, 2025, King Jouet Roques parking lot (shared with Leclerc Roques) (31)
  • Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Promenade Ginko (33)

"Thanks to the mobilization of toy manufacturers and distributors,
Ecomaison created in 2022 the
Toys reuse and recycling channel throughout France. In 2024, over 85 million
toys have already been collected. But more needs to be done to
ensure that no more toys are thrown away.
The key? Working with toy manufacturers and retailers to find
solutions to promote sorting, reuse and repair among
parents and children. That's our ambition for this event
"Mission Sauvetage de Jouets"!"

Matthieu Goutti, Ecomaison Games Sector Manager

During these days, budding "Toy Savers" will have the chance to take part in a series of fun and educational workshops:

  • a Mission Tri or how to get lost toys back to where they belong,
  • a Recup'Jouets Mission to give toys a second life by
reusing them, run by Ecomaison partner associations
  • a Mission Repar'Tout to adopt the repair reflex in a practical and fun way
    .

To make it easier to sort and return used or unused toys and games (plush toys, dolls, board games, puzzles, figurines, small cars... excluding battery-operated, electric or electronic toys), Ecomaison has equipped more than 6,000 collection points with Jouets terminals: stores, associations, recycling centers and public waste collection centers, available throughout France. Ecomaison is the state-approved eco-organization for the sorting, collection, reuse and recycling of household objects and materials: furniture, bedding, decorative textiles, building products and building materials, DIY and garden items, toys.

By 2023, Ecomaison had collected 1.6 million tons of household and building objects and materials, 97% of which were recycled (reuse, recycling, energy recovery). Before its creation, 55% of furniture was landfilled, but Ecomaison's progress and innovations have made the eco-organization a benchmark player in the Circular Economy.
