Eco-mobilier and Yoyo have joined forces to contribute to the development of comforter and pillow recycling in the Bordeaux region. For each bag of comforters and pillows brought in, consumers earn points which they can then convert into donations to support local associations, or take advantage of discounts and vouchers from scheme partners.

Cities are where we consume the most and sort the least. Bedding is no exception to the rule, with pillows, comforters and cushions most often ending up in the garbage can or at a recycling center, when a different fate is possible. Faced with this situation, Eco-mobilier and Yoyo are launching a project for the separate collection of comforters and pillows, in order to preserve the quality of the material and ensure optimal recycling and recovery.

According to a recent study*, 89% of French people would like to see more collection points in France for furniture items placed on the market.

This scheme enables local consumers to benefit from a local collection solution, thanks to a network of local relay points in charge of collection and awareness-raising (such as Grand Litier, Auchan Mériadeck, local shops, etc.).

In 2019, an initial test was carried out with over 350 participating Bordeaux households, resulting in the collection of 2.3 tons of used products. To go even further, Eco-mobilier with Yoyo is launching a second, larger-scale experiment, with a more comprehensive reward scheme including solidarity donations.

In order to mobilize all residents, including the least committed, Yoyo has a reward system that has proved its effectiveness over the past 3 years. For each item dropped off, residents earn points that can be converted into donations to support local associations (Atelier Remuménage, Emmaüs Connect, Le Carillon, etc.). They can also redeem their points for discounts and freebies from Yoyo partners (bedding, home decoration, DIY, cultural and sporting activities, etc.) on the Yoyo.eco online store.

Through this scheme, Eco-mobilier and Yoyo are seeking to make consumers aware that sorting their bedding items for recycling is an essential step towards making a positive, tangible environmental impact.
