On October 4, Ecomaison and Doyère Démolition opened the doors of a housing rehabilitation site at Porte de Vanves. An opportunity to show how materials can be transformed into reusable resources.
Immersion in the field of re-use
Led by Alexandre Doyère, President of Doyère Démolition, the visit was attended by representatives of the Régie immobilière de la Ville de Paris, Métropole du Grand Paris, Région Île-de-France, Ekopolis, Fédération Française du Bâtiment, SEDDRe, and our partner Ecominéro, who were able to discover the organization in place to maximize the re-use of materials.

In rehabilitating this 176-unit, 11-storey building, almost 8,800 m² of floor space was reused. Every material is recycled to the maximum, from the recovery of wood, plastic and metal components to the meticulous deconstruction of partitions and floors. Careful sorting and storage on site is also an essential step in optimizing logistics and guaranteeing efficient reuse of resources.
Key reuse figures for this site :
- 6,400 m² of parquet flooring
- 400 radiators
- 150 sanitary facilities
- 70 doors
- Street furniture and electrical equipment

"This worksite is a fine example of what reuse and recycling can concretely achieve, involving a whole chain of players to encourage good practice."
Denis Blanchard, Building Sector Manager at Ecomaison
The art of re-use, instructions for use
Alexandre Doyère, an expert in decontamination and demolition, methodically explains each stage of a worksite that generates and integrates the reuse of products.
The organization of the worksite begins with the installation of a live base, ensuring a safe and compliant work area. This is followed by the consignment of energy and the storage of materials in dedicated areas for efficient sorting.
To guarantee optimal reuse, the cleaning stages are carried out in chronological order, which is the most efficient in terms of management:
- Treatment of wood, plastic and metal components: dismantling of doors and plastic components for recycling.
- Work on partition walls: demolition of walls made of clinker, a material frequently used in Paris construction.
- Methodical removal of parquet flooring: cut and resin insulation.
Last but not least, the evacuation of recyclable flows is designed in advance. This ensures smooth materials management, reduces interruptions and optimizes waste logistics.

"Every phase of the worksite is an opportunity to maximize reuse, not only to preserve resources, but also to make substantial savings, all based on a rigorous PEMD (Products, Equipment, Materials and Waste) diagnosis."
Alexandre Doyère, Chairman of Doyère and Vice-Chairman of SEDDRe (Syndicat des Entreprises de Déconstruction, Dépollution et Recyclage)
5,000 tonnes of materials recovered by 2024 by Ecomaison
By aiming to reuse and valorize existing resources, the reuse of materials in the building industry is an effective way of reducing the sector's environmental impact. As part of its reuse action plan, Ecomaison is seeking to validate and consolidate the most effective means.
To achieve this, it is implementing an ambitious plan to facilitate the emergence of demand, in collaboration with partners such as Doyère Démolition, Neom, Premys and Cassin, and to organize the supply of reusable products and materials, in conjunction with solidarity players and existing platforms. In the same spirit of experimentation, a call for projects launched in June 2024 with Ecominéro supports these initiatives.
The plan also includes materials recovery, training for professionals in selective dismantling and traceability of flows. The aim is to experiment and then scale up.
