As part of the renewal of its 2024-2029 accreditation for the furniture sector, Ecomaison has set re-use and recycling as one of its priorities. In 2024, 141,000 tonnes of furniture will be sent to its partners in the Social and Solidarity Economy.

20 million euros dedicated to reuse

To encourage and support the collection, sorting and reuse of
furnishings and the recycling of non-recycled products, Ecomaison is planning to provide financial support
of 19,6 million
euros, including 16 million euros for solidarity-based reuse and 3.6 million euros in
plus for actions in favor of collection, sorting and reuse through Calls for
Expressions of Interest (AMI).

Ecomaison's ambition is to increase the quantities of
products sent to associations
by 25% by 2024 , i.e. the equivalent of 141,000 tonnes per year
(10% of the volume of used furniture collected in France)
.

2024 marks a new stage for Ecomaison with the acceleration of solidarity-based reuse in the furniture sector. We will devote 6% of our sales to this area, and are launching a vast call for projects to support this ambition in local areas. This year will also mark the full ramp-up of our 4 approved channels. We are pursuing our challenge of operational and digital transformation to integrate these activities, and simplify relations with members by streamlining procedures. Our aim is to maintain our performance and go even further in our mission, despite the difficult economic climate of 2024.

Dominique Mignon, President Ecomaison

Complete overhaul of the re-use chain

To encourage reuse and avoid discarding furnishings, Ecomaison is planning to diversify the sources of supply for its partner associations, and is stepping up its financial support for them.

A complete overhaul of the logistics chain will therefore be carried out, to enable associations to access products taken back either by distributors (customer returns and delivery areas within sales outlets, logistics warehouses, etc.), or donated by users in dedicated areas at waste collection centers, or present at professional users' premises (building sites, renovation of residences or hotel establishments). Ecomaison is committed to bringing together - or registering existing partnerships within local areas - players in the field of re-use, local authorities and professionals in the sector.

New: support for local projects and initiatives

A Fonds Réemploi has been set up to boost the resources of associations and support these measures.

In addition, Ecomaison will launch an annual "Reuse and Territories" call for expressions of interest . The aim is to encourage the creation or extension of reuse platforms, therebyincreasing capacity and volumes reused, as well associal and solidarity-based employment. Examples include the development of new collection channels, the creation of new sales outlets (possibly shared), and the enhancement of sales through digitalization.

The AMI will be launched at the beginning of February 2024, and applications will be selected by the end of March. It will continue throughout the year, with new projects selected until the end of 2024.
