November 2024 update: the digital platform izidore, a specialist in the sale of second-hand furniture and an Ecomaison partner, ended its activities in October 2024. Despite this bad news, Ecomaison reaffirms its commitment to reuse and continues to support professionals and players in the Social and Solidarity Economy in this objective. Find out more about Ecomaison.
Ecomaison, a government-approved eco-organization for the collection, sorting, reuse and recycling of household materials and objects, and izidore, a platform specializing in second-hand, branded furniture, have strengthened their partnership to facilitate take-back by distributors and thus encourage reuse in the furnishings sector. By labelling izidore, Ecomaison is reinforcing its support for members in the take-back and reuse of furnishings.
Since January 2022, the Anti-Waste for a Circular Economy law, also known as the "AGEC law", has required retailers to take back used furniture from customers and to set up a system for managing unsold items for the benefit of social economy associations to avoid their destruction.
As part of its mission, Ecomaison helps professional members achieve these objectives and comply with regulations, by offering a number of tools and services for trade-in. These now include izidore PRO, an offer developed by izidore to enable brands, distributors and stores to launch their own turnkey second-life solutions.
As a platform specializing in second-hand furniture, izidore aims to encourage and democratize the circular economy in the furniture sector. izidore works closely with brands to :
- Help customers estimate the resale price of their old products,
- Launch an outsourced second-hand offer enabling them to control their brand image and contribute their expertise,
- Guarantee the authenticity of each product offered for sale,
- Give a second life to stock products with the PRO account available on izidore.
The izidore PRO service offering enables professionals in the furniture sector to play a full part in this fast-growing market, ensuring simple furniture take-back and promoting re-use.
This partnership is fully in line with Ecomaison's action plan, which includes furniture reuse as one of its priorities. In fact, the eco-organization's ambition is to increase the quantities of additional products sent to associations by 25% by 2024 , i.e. the equivalent of 141,000 tonnes per year (10% of the volume of used furniture collected in France).
