Reuse and recycling of DIY and garden items: Ecomaison gives you the keys to a successful end of season

Signing of a 2-year partnership agreement

What can I do with my DIY garden items?

From parasols and watering cans to gas barbecues, tools and outdoor equipment (excluding heating and electrical equipment) - all these items must now be taken to Ecomaison collection points when they reach the end of their useful life, or when their owners wish to dispose of them.

The eco-organization Ecomaison has deployed more than 12,000 collection points throughout France to enable every French person to dispose of their furniture and household and garden items. 4,500 of these are equipped to receive DIY and garden items and are located in :

  • Public waste collection centres
  • DIY and/or garden stores
  • Garden centres and/or pet shops
  • Associations

In 2024, nearly 100,000 tonnes of DIY and garden equipment were collected by Ecomaison. Thanks to the eco-participation fee included in the sale price of all equipment, Ecomaison finances the collection, sorting, repair, reuse and recycling of these items, to give them a second life.

To raise awareness of this reuse and recycling scheme, and to encourage the right sorting gesture, Ecomaison is organizing some 30 awareness-raising days from September 13 to October 12, 2025, in collaboration with the artist Ruben Gérard.

For the occasion, RECYCL'EXPO will feature life-size works of art made from DIY and garden items restyled by Ruben Gérard. Visitors will also have the opportunity to test their knowledge of sorting the items taken in charge by Ecomaison, on the sorting game.

All dates and locations of events are listed here.
