Access to deposits
The challenge for Ecomaison is to offer more and better reuse options for household products, and to improve the quality of the resources available. The aim is to achieve a higher re-use rate across all channels.

Collecting new, higher-quality deposits

As an Ecomaison partner, you can access a pool of used furniture, toys, DIY and garden items, as well as materials. One of the solutions we propose is to bring together solidarity players and the world of distribution.
To guarantee the quality of the products collected, and to encourage their re-use, the collection process must be gentle. Products in good condition must be separated from waste. Ecomaison is developing new collection methods and channels to encourage reuse. Our priority is to strengthen the links between stores and our partners in the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) on collection through a shared approach.
Collection solutions to promote reuse
Since their creation, SSE structures have organized their own waste collection. These solutions are here to stay, but they are now being supplemented by new methods.
1. Voluntary drop-off/donation at your sites
You are listed on our geolocation map as a "solidarity collection point" for donating objects in good condition; private individuals or professionals bring you reusable products. These points are also resale outlets.
2. Direct collection from donors
You can organize collection rounds at private homes, businesses or public or private partner sites (hotels, offices...).
3. In-store collection
Ecomaison brings together volunteer retailers and SSE structures to collect furniture, toys and materials in good condition for re-use throughout the year.
4. Seasonal and special collections
Ecomaison organizes special events, such as toy collections in schools or garden equipment collections at tourist sites.
5. Collection from public drop-off centers
Recycling zones at waste collection centers enable products still in good condition to be separated before being processed. SSE structures can be partners.
6. On-site collection
Building waste (furniture, materials, equipment) can be recovered directly on site to encourage local re-use. Ecomaison offers building professionals the opportunity to take back their waste on the building site to encourage re-use. We put them in touch with interested organizations, who then become their collection partners.

Furniture
Experience has shown that the flow of furniture collected by retailers always contains a proportion of good-quality products that deserve to be reused. In good condition, or slightly damaged but easily repairable, they can find a buyer and benefit from a second life. To do this, they need to be sorted as far upstream as possible, and protected from bad weather and theft.
Each volunteer store is equipped with a sea container to protect these products when a local social economy organization agrees to become its partner.
Pre-sorting instructions by store staff are available to all, but can be fine-tuned if both partners agree. Together, they agree on the collection arrangements (day of collection, frequency, etc.).
For the building industry, this type of partnership is currently being tested.

The case of toys
Toys are collected in stores from customers in an Ecomaison collection box. When the box is full, the toys are emptied into another ordinary box by the stores. You can then pick them up in store.

On-site collections
The biggest sources of products and materials come from construction sites. By definition, these are ephemeral collection points. When building products (and sometimes furniture) are handed over to Ecomaison, they can be offered to local structures, reused on site or on another building site, or resold.
Unsold merchandise
Unsold goods cannot be considered as re-used products. However, these products have an interesting value for solidarity stores. As soon as Ecomaison becomes aware of a large batch of this type of product, this information is passed on to the various networks to see which structure(s) could usefully take it on.
In addition, producers holding unsold products are encouraged to offer them locally to SSE structures close to the site where they are available. To do this, they can consult the points map to identify local structures under contract with Ecomaison. Numerous partnerships of this type have been spontaneously concluded locally between the players concerned.
