Eco-mobilier approved to collect and recycle do-it-yourself and garden products, toys and games

Eco-mobilier is now authorized to recycle DIY and garden items as well as toys and games! "This extension of the scope of our activities is a logical and natural progression for our eco-organization: toys and games and furniture belong to the same universe, that of household objects, and with DIY and garden items, there are many similarities in terms of uses and players, and sometimes they are the same. These new sectors share many points in common with furniture, particularly in terms of composition and materials," emphasizes Dominique Mignon, President of Eco-mobilier.

New regulations

These approvals for DIY and garden products / toys and games are first and foremost the result of the desire of manufacturers and distributors to entrust Eco-mobilier with the task of meeting their obligations under the AGEC law. "This choice is recognition of the skills, professionalism and expertise that Eco-mobilier has demonstrated for almost ten years. The Eco-mobilier team is proud of this vote of confidence," continues Dominique Mignon.

These approvals for DIY and garden products, followed by toys and games, are the fruit of a year-and-a-half-long collaborative effort between professionals in the two sectors and Eco-mobilier. The aim was to create the operational processes for the previously non-existent channels. The strength of Eco-mobilier's collection and reuse network is a major asset: 5,000 collection points, 230 sorting centers and 500 partners in the social economy.

Eco-mobilier's approach is that of a multi-subsidiary organization that makes the most of synergies.

With the ambition of achieving "zero landfill waste", the objective over the six-year term of the agreement is twofold.

Our new goal?

  • Promote and encourage donations, and put in place diversified and appropriate means of collection in order to strongly develop reuse. This requires a closer network of collection points and access to the donation platform, a digital tool set up by the eco-organization.
  • The second target is to step up efforts to recycle plastics, which are very present in these processes.
  • At the same time, Eco-mobilier aims to support distributors in their obligation to take back products in stores, to pool and consolidate collections and flows, and to encourage eco-design with a view to improving product lifespan, recyclability and the incorporation of recycled materials.

The aim is to turn a regulatory constraint into a business opportunity. By drawing on Eco-mobilier's expertise, manufacturers and distributors will be able to implement their strategic vision for the sector in the interests of all stakeholders - consumers, associations and local authorities.
