Working with Ecomaison

Throughout France, Ecomaison works with a number of partner operators to achieve Zero Waste.
All household products collected, if they cannot be reused, are directed towards recycling, or failing that, recovered for energy purposes.

The operators selected may be generalists or specialists in a particular activity or material.

Developing a circular resource economy

Recycling materials from used products is one of the 3 possible loops in the circular economy (repair, reuse, recycling). It avoids the extraction of new natural resources and reduces carbon impact by reusing recycled materials to manufacture new products.

Certain materials, such as metals, which are easy to remelt, have long been recycled, as has wood, of which Ecomaison offers over 800,000 tonnes every year.
Others, such as plastics or textiles, require specific, new or more advanced technologies.
With nearly 1,000 operators under contract, Ecomaison runs a network that is firmly rooted in the regions and constantly evolving.

For these main service categories, Ecomaison calls on operators selected on the basis of 5 criteria: technical, economic, innovation, social and environmental. Two selection methods are available:

Consultations: as part of a call for tenders, volumes of materials are fixed between Ecomaison and the operator, constituting a reciprocal commitment. Other types of contract are organized around the provision of containers, such as pallet boxes.
Calls for referrals: Ecomaison refers operators and offers a different activation method. In this way, players in the sector who have a collection point can request the collection of their containers themselves and choose from among the referenced operators, thus providing greater flexibility and adaptability. This is particularly applicable to the building products market.

Every year, more and more manufacturers want to make a greater commitment to the circular economy by incorporating recycled materials into their new products. They turn to Ecomaison to find out how they can obtain recycled material to precise specifications, at negotiated costs and in precise quantities, as is the case with virgin materials.

The circular mechanics of matter

Where possible, Ecomaison can already bring together manufacturers who produce recycled materials and those who consume them.

This dynamic is attractive for operators/producers of recycled materials. It also opens up the prospect of recurring volumes to outlets and markets identified in advance. It is also a commitment for producers, as recycled material may have slightly different characteristics from virgin material.

To achieve zero waste, Ecomaison's action is part of a continuous improvement approach to industrial recycling processes.

That's why we encourage and support local manufacturers (based in France) to develop and/or improve recycling processes. In this way, Ecomaison maintains an ongoing dynamic of innovation.
