The projects supported by Ecomaison as part of the "Appel à Manifestation d'Intérêt" (AMI) Réemploi et Territoires launched in 2024 are taking shape. We take you on a tour of Siléo, a social integration enterprise that runs two eco-cycleries and a matériauthèque in southern Maine-et-Loire (49).

Ecocyclerie des Mauges: a new truck and new outlets for furniture

In Montrevault-sur-Èvre, where it has been operating for 15 years, the Ecocyclerie des Mauges collects over 650 tonnes of objects, furniture and textile products every year. 95% of these are collected in the reuse areas of the region's 13 drop-off centers, or brought in by private individuals directly to the structure's donation counter. Only 5% come from home collections. Thanks to the support of Ecomaison, the organization has been able to invest in a second truck, doubling the frequency of collections from both drop-off centers and private individuals.

The result is improved reactivity and, above all, easier access to new quality sources, particularly at home. The truck is also used for shuttles to the matériauthèque, Siléo's reuse platform dedicated to building materials and professional furniture, in particular to deliver solid wood shelving boards recovered from furniture that hasn't found any takers in eco-cycling stores. This is where these parts will find a new outlet: this process will increase the rate of re-use and re-utilization of these parts, while at the same time meeting an existing demand.

Ecocyclerie Loire-Layon-Aubance: a new storage space to welcome and preserve more furniture

Opened in 2019 in Bellevigne-en-Layon, the Loire-Layon-Aubance Ecocyclerie received and processed over 380 tonnes of products in 2024. And it was beginning to feel a little cramped to handle the ever-increasing volumes! Ecomaison's financial support was used to set up a new modular storage space of 80 m2. This additional space now enables the structure to accept all donations, especially furniture.

Part of the aid was also used to purchase equipment to facilitate furniture handling: rolling trays for moving heavy loads, trolleys with side rails and handling harnesses. A good practice for preserving products and team safety!

The circular economy as experienced by those who make it happen

"At Siléo, we are committed to local reuse. We do our utmost to give objects a second chance. We have to be both relevant in what we offer in store, and able to enhance the value of the elements that can be reused, when the furniture cannot be reused in its entirety. Our Ecomaison-supported project is a step in this direction.

Élise Nerbusson, Siléo Development Manager

"By providing financial support for the purchase of a truck and a modular storage space, Ecomaison is reinforcing the momentum created by Siléo in favor of reuse. This rural organization, now well known to local residents, is constantly innovating to promote the reuse of various household objects and materials.

Mael L'Hostis, Regional Development Manager - Centre Atlantique, Ecomaison

As part of the Fonds Réemploi program, the AMI Réemploi et Territoires d'Ecomaison aims to encourage the emergence of and provide financial support for business development projects led by SSE (social and solidarity economy) structures and built around the logic of local ecosystems, helping to increase the volumes of reused goods in the heart of French territories.

The first session supported 30 winning projects aimed at increasing the number of preserved collections, improving rehabilitation or developing new outlets.
