Ecomaison is stepping up its support for member take-backs with a brand-new initiative: the deployment of reuse containers installed directly on retailers' sites. We'll explain!
Reuse, an effective solution for reducing waste
The Anti-Waste for a Circular Economy Act (AGEC) of 2020 regulates the management of unsold goods or even the take-back of used products sold by distributors and/or delivered to the home after a purchase.
Ecomaison supports its distributor/retailer members in implementing their reuse strategy through the deployment of operational take-back solutions and targeted financial support.
Ecomaison's "reuse container offer" now complements existing solutions, enabling distributors and delivery firms to become fully involved in reuse.

Ecomaison containers to speed up re-use
Ecomaison already provides distributors/retailers with skips to take back the products collected as part of the take-back scheme, free of charge, and direct them towards recycling. However, this solution does not allow for re-use, as the products deteriorate when loaded into the skips.
Re-use containers are deployed to meet this need for preserving collection solutions, offering :
- an independent, on-site collection area that does not encroach on the sales area. Two container sizes are available: 16m3 or 30m3.
- a closed, secure storage solution
Ecomaison mobilizes its local coordinators and its network of over 600 reuse partners to put social economy associations in touch with the stores that want them, and so structure a long-term local reuse solution.
Target: 10,000 tonnes channelled to recycling operators
Following an initial roll-out to over fifty stores in the first half of 2024, Ecomaison is now extending the scheme nationwide.
In concrete terms, 2 options are now available to partner distributors:
Two logistical options for reuse collection:
Keep a skip and add a re-use container
Choose a single container
The scheme, initially reserved for furniture, will gradually be extended to other product families, notably DIY and garden items.
Ecomaison's communication kit for partner distributors completes the scheme, to facilitate and encourage the collection of used items from private individuals. It includes tools for retailers and their reuse partners to facilitate collaboration, such as a display on containers of products to be collected.
