The reuse of materials from construction sites is one of the current challenges facing the construction industry, which is particularly resource-intensive. Here's a closer look at Ecomaison's progress and initiatives.
Nearly 1,800 take-back points deployed for sorted building waste
Every year, the building sector generates 42 million tonnes of waste. A figure that reflects the scale of the environmental challenge.
The Ecomaison teams were present at the Bâtir pour le climat event last November, to share their actions aimed at building professionals to support them in this transition.
Adopted as part of the AGEC law (Anti-Gaspillage pour une Économie Circulaire), waste management in the construction sector has taken a decisive step forward. Since January 1, 2024, sorted waste can be taken back free of charge anywhere in the country. This measure also aims to curb illegal dumping.
With this in mind, Ecomaison has set itself two objectives. Firstly, to support companies in their efforts to comply with the eco-participation scale. Secondly, to increase the number of take-back points so that tradespeople can dispose of their sorted waste free of charge. Since the launch of the Building sector, Ecomaison has deployed nearly 1,800 drop-off sites across the country.
Financial assistance for building professionals
From small to large volumes of waste, Ecomaison also offers various take-back solutions and does more than just simplify collection.
In partnership with the eco-organization Ecominéro, the "Entrepôt" offer is a financial financial assistance to reduce the cost of processing construction site waste. This solution is a real boost to encourage the recycling of materials.
Up to seven types of material are covered, with no minimum or maximum thresholds (except for inert materials): wood, glazed frames, metals, plastics, plaster, inert materials (less than 100 tonnes/year).
Simplified access to collection points
Find the nearest collection point to your worksite on the OCA Bâtiment website.
And thanks to the ourecycler.ecomaison.comartisans can save time by dropping off their sorted building waste at our partner sites free of charge. How does it work? All they have to do is register on the application (registration is free but not compulsory) to find the nearest Ecomaison collection point and create their drop-off requests. The application also enables you to keep a record of your deposits and download sorting instructions.

"Our network of collection points allows tradespeople to drop off their pre-sorted waste free of charge."

These take-back solutions are offered thanks to the introduction of the Extended Producer Responsibility for Building Products and Materials (EPR PMCB or Bâtiment) and the application of the eco-tax included in the price of new products since May 2023.
Thanks to this eco-tax, waste finds a second life. They can be transformed into new construction products or recovered as energy resources.
As an eco-organization, Ecomaison plays a key role in this circular economy chain. Our long-term objective? To continue driving forward practices aimed at transforming waste into resources and building a more sustainable future.
